Oregon Trip

Day 6 of 8

Previous Day | Trip Home | Next Day

Wednesday, July 20th
Tamolitch Pool, Sahalie and Koosah Falls, Proxy Falls

Today we started off by driving back up Highway 126 a few miles and hiking to Tamolitch Pool (otherwise known as the Blue Pool).

After the hike, we continued north on Highway 126 for a few more miles and hiked to Sahalie and Hoosah Falls.

We had time for one more hike today. We drove down 126 and turned left onto scenic highway 242 toward Sisters. We stopped at the trailhead and did the hike to Proxy Falls.

After the hike, we returned to Highway 126, stopping at the McKenzie Bridge general store, just a few miles past our campground. There aren't a lot of supplies here; just basics, but there's ice cream and soda, which were very welcome after a hot day of hiking.

Back at camp, I was surprised to find that two sites right next to the river were vacant. Most of the camp was full, though. We had new neighbors tonight. I was a bit worried when I heard them chopping wood throughout the evening. It sounded like they were preparing to have a campfire until the wee hours of the morning and they'd keep us up. Thankfully they were quiet after 10:30am.
