Tutoring

I am available for math and computer science tutoring. In particular, I am available for the following subjects:

  • SAT math
  • High school algebra
  • High school geometry and trigonometry
  • High school and college discrete math
  • High school and college probability and combinatorics
  • Computer science languages (C, C++, Java)
  • Computer science theory (algorithms, NP-completeness, etc.)

If interested, please provide details on your tutoring needs.

RATES AND AVAILABILITY

Individual rate: $30 per hour. Minimum $45 per session.

Location: Most commonly, sessions take place in a library in Belmont or San Mateo.

Available hours: Weekdays after 7pm, weekends any time by arrangement

EDUCATION

I graduated from UC Berkeley with a B.A. in Mathematics and Computer Science (double major) in 1992, with High Honors in CS and Highest Honors in Math, and a 3.8 GPA.

I received a M.S. degree in Computer Science from UC Berkeley in 1994, with a 3.7 GPA.

TUTORING EXPERIENCE

I have tutored SAT math, calculus, computer science theory, discrete mathematics, computer programming (C language). I have tutored high school students, college students, and adults.

I was also a computer science lab assistant for several years in college, helping students with C and Scheme programming problems.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I was a graduate student instructor (teaching assistant) for computer science theory and C programming classes at UC Berkeley for two years. I was also an SAT prep course instructor for one summer.

OTHER EXPERIENCE

Excelled in many high school math competitions, including UC Santa Barbara Prize Competition, University of Santa Clara Annual High School Mathematics Contest, American High School Math Exam (AHSME), and American Invitational Math Exam (AIME).

First place in San Francisco Bay Area Science Fair, mathematics/computer science division, for three consecutive years (1986 - 1988); Grand prize winner in 1987.
