Monday was another long travel day. We made the slightly over 1 hour
drive back to the ferry dock, just catching the 1pm ferry. Once on the
other side, we noted the signs telling us what the wait times were for
crossing the border. Since it was a July 4th, there were a lot of
Americans returning home for fireworks. The main Peace Arch crossing was
about 45 minutes, so we took the alternate crossing, which still took
about 20 minutes.
Fireworks from our hotel room
If you're ever in Seattle for the 4th of July, make sure you stop and take
a look at Lake Union. As we drove by, we could see huge numbers of boats
in the lake, all set up to watch the fireworks show later that night.
It reminded me of all the boats in McCovey's Cove waiting for a Bonds home
run ball in 2001. Okay, it wasn't quite so packed, but it was still a sight
to see. Later that night, we enjoyed the fireworks through the window of
our hotel room.
