This was getaway day, so we planned a short hike on the way out. After checking out
of the hotel and grabbing some sandwiches from the grocery store, we headed along
Highway 89, then right onto Highway 88. This section had some of the nicest colors
on the trip.
At the top of Carson Pass we turned left into the large parking lot where there's a
monument, pit toilets, and visitor's center (which was closed). Here, we started
off on our hike to Frog Lake.
After the hike, we headed home. Despite a little bit of traffic along 205/580, we
made it back in 3 1/2 hours.
