Friday after dinner we made the 1 hour drive to Del Valle Regional Park near Livermore.
I'd started hikes from here twice before, once to Murietta Falls and once for the Ohlone
Wilderness Trail, but never camped here or even hiked within the park itself.
I'd already made reservations for a site. Be sure to make reservations for weekends, as
they fill up. The sites in our area were centered around a large grassy field where people
play frisbee and softball. We set up our
tent in the growing darkness as others were enjoying their camp fires.
The Livermore area can get quite warm during the summer, but on this spring night it was actually
quite cold, dropping down to about 44 degrees.
