Amazingly, after all that travel we woke up at 8am after 4 hours of sleep. This was probably
good, since we had a lot to do. Our first stop was the Denver UPS Store. We picked
up our package (they charge $10 to hold it for you). I verified that they were closed on
Friday (July 4th), which is when we'd be done camping. However, they'd be open on Saturday
so we had that as a backup if we couldn't find an open UPS Store in Colorado Springs, where
we'd be staying the next weekend. This was important since, of course, we would need to
ship things back home.
We then visited the REI Denver Flagship store. The store is huge, maybe even larger than the
one in Seattle. Even though it was huge, everywhere I turned was another shopper. Even if
it isn't the biggest, it was definitely the busiest REI store I've been to. Well, that could
be because we just happened to pick the same day as their quarterly "garage sale" (on returned,
slightly used gear). In any case, we bought a cooler and some other gear which we had decided
not to bring or ship.
After lunch, we went grocery shopping, buying everything we'd need for our five night camping
trip in Rocky Mountain National Park. After that, it was time for a much-needed afternoon
nap.
After our nap, we strolled up and down the 16th Street Mall, eventually having dinner and
then started preparing the cooler for our trip.
