Here is a detailed listing of everything Jean and I brought along on the
trail, except the food. This was the first trip we went on with the kids.
The final weigh-in at the trailhead came
to 55 pounds for me, 30 pounds for Jean. Nathan and Jared each carried a
Camelbak with water and their stuffed animals.

If they sold smaller sleeping bags for the kids, we could probably save a couple pounds
there. We could probably get lighter sleeping bags for ourselves, as well, but we're
fond of having zero degree bags. The tent was great. Wish it was a bit lighter,
but of course it provided ample space for the four of us. The ProLite 4R is 1.5 inches thick
instead of the 1.0 inches of my old pad, and I paid for it with just 0.1 extra pounds,
a trade-off I'm definitely willing to make. Jean would have liked a slightly longer
sleeping pad -- it's too bad they don't have anything in between the 4R and 4S.
Jean and I just used our clothes as pillows. On a longer trip, we'd probably ditch the
pillows for the kids and have them use their clothes, but for this trip they didn't have
enough clothes to use for pillows.
