A bunch of people packed up and left the campground this morning, but by the end of the day it
was full again. The weather today was once again perfect, and we made the very short drive
to the Devils Garden trailhead to hike to
Landscape Arch.
After the hike, it was only 2:30 in the afternoon and a bit hot, so we decided to drive into
Moab again for ice cream and supplies. One thing I noticed when I drove to the grocery store
was the Moab Mailing Center. Before we'd left for our trip I had scoured the web, trying to
find a UPS Store that's open on Sunday in Utah. None to be found, partly due to the influence
of the LDS church. Things just aren't open on Sundays. This meant that we'd have to ship
our camping gear before then. At Capitol Reef, our last stop before leaving, the options
are few, with the UPS Store in Richfield looking like the only option -- and that was a 75
minute drive away from Capitol Reef. I was hoping to avoid that. Luckily, this place in Moab
gave us a better option. I stopped in to make sure they had large enough boxes and would ship
our stuff out using UPS. They confirmed this, so I made a note to come back here on Thursday
to ship our gear out.
We drove back into the park, then stopped at the Balanced Rock trailhead. As soon as I got out
of the car, a man approached me and asked if I had a small screwdriver. The only thing I came
up with was my tiny swiss army knife, which he proceeded to jam into the lock on his trunk,
trying to get it open. The poor guy had locked his car keys in his trunk. The car doors were still
open, but he had no way of getting to the keys. Apparently, since it was a convertible, there
was no lever to pop the trunk open, and no way to get through the back seat. Eventually he
flagged down a ranger who also was not able to help, so I assume he eventually had to call a tow
truck or locksmith from Moab.

After taking lots of pictures at Balanced Rock, we returned to our campground around 6pm and it
was still quite hot. After dinner and campfire, it was off to bed.
