We woke up bright and early, 6:30am, to mostly blue skies. The forest is so tall and thick
that it's hard to see much of the sky. After a nice big breakfast we played Wiffle ball with
the kids in
the vacant campsite next to us.
Next, we drove back to the park headquarters to do the
Blooms Creek Loop hike.
After the hike, we got ice cream at the store (it's a small store with not much more than
drinks and snacks). After ice cream, we skipped the gift shop and went to the small nature
museum next door, where there are exhibits on the flora and fauna of the park, a relief
map of the park, and some preserved animals -- including some tubes holding preserved
snakes. The whole headquarters area is quite busy and feels crowded, with mid-day parking
spots being hard to find.
We returned to our camp for some downtime before dinner and a campfire to ward off the
increasing chill.
