When I was calculating how many calories to bring, I estimated 21,000 would be about right. But then after I saw the total of 27,000 calories, I wasn't sure what to cut. I had made notes from our last backpacking trip that I should have brought more dried mango and sesame snaps, so that's why I had so much of that. This was also the first time we brought candy for the kids. In retrospect, I should have cut some of the dried mango and sesame snaps and maybe a few other things. As it was, we ate everything except for the following:

Food Cal Grams
dried apricots 43 16
Pretzel M&Ms 351 76
raisins 416 128
dried mango 511 134
5 sesame snaps 1161 210
4 Pro Bar fruition 632 202
Total 3114 766

So we had roughly an extra 3000 calories and 1.7 pounds of food.

The hardest part was compressing all the sleeping bags and pads so that we could fit it all. I look forward to the day when Nathan can carry his own sleeping bag or at least his sleeping pad. Maybe next year.

Once again, I brought way too much fuel. By the end of our trip, the fuel canisters still weighed in at 1.301 pounds. This means we only used about 124 grams of the 454 grams of fuel in the canisters. Which means I barely used half of one canister.

The fact that I didn't weigh the kids' water probably makes up for the differences between their total and actual values. 61.5 pounds was the most I've ever carried.
