In the morning, we drove over to the UPS store. I felt a little strange driving there, since it
was literally across the street from our hotel. But we had lots of stuff to ship, and it was
pouring rain. After dropping off our stuff (which would arrive at home two days later), we
headed to the airport.
I found it strange that at 10am on a Monday morning, there was a long line at the security
checkpoint. But we got through in about 30 minutes without a problem, and soon boarded our flight
and less than 2 hours later arrived back home in sunny California.
I've now visited all the biggest Rocky Mountain national parks of the United States and Canada
in the last 3 years: Rocky Mountain NP
in 2008, Banff, Jasper, and Glacier (United States) in 2009, and Yellowstone/Grand Teton in 2011.
If I were to rate them by scenery, I would probably rate them in this order: Banff, Jasper,
Rocky Mountain, Glacier, Grand Teton, and Yellowstone. Of course, Yellowstone has all the
geothermal features that the other parks do not.
I feel like something was missing in this trip. I think it was the sense of wilderness. There
are so many people and roads that it's hard to get that feeling here. You never feel like you're
that far away from people, roads, or both. Perhaps we'll have to
revisit in the future and do some backpacking trips here to get that wilderness feeling.
