It was partly cloudy in the morning for a change. I checked the weather forecast (it's
posted near the front of the campground), and it called for 20% chance of thunderstorms.
I kept that in mind as we made the approximately 50 minute drive to Mammoth Hot Springs, where
we hiked to the
Beaver Ponds.
After the hike, we stopped into a store for ice cream, then drove back to camp. We had
new neighbors tonight; there seems to be pretty high turnover at the campground, with a lot
of people staying for 1 to 3 nights (we were staying for 5). Our new neighbors were loud
and ill-prepared, part of a large group spread out over several sites. They threw a bucket
of lighter fluid over a bag of charcoal in their fire pit, and shouted at each other in the
dark (they appeared to have very few flashlights and no lanterns). Thankfully, they
pretty much quieted down around 11pm (quiet time is 10pm - 6am).
