We got up relatively early and packed up, ready to leave
before 9am. It was then that we found out one of the tires
was low on pressure. I figured it must have developed a
leak from the unpaved road from Tangle Blue Lake (that was
probably the roughest road of the trip).
It was leaking about 1 psi every 2 hours. It seemed ok
to drive on briefly, so I just took it slow into Weaverville,
where we stopped at a gas station and filled the tire back
up. In the future I will probably consider bringing a
pump and a patch kit, just in case.
From Weaverville it was pretty smooth sailing, stopping
just for lunch and getting into the Bay Area around 3:30pm,
mostly missing the commute traffic (probably because we were heading
the opposite direction from most people).
The next day, I took the car in to get the tire fixed.
It took just a few minutes and $15 to fix it. Of course,
it's probably worth it to spend the money on the patch kit
for peace of mind.
