There aren't any signs once you turn off Highway 395 onto the dirt road.
Because of this, we missed a sharp right turn and ended up going the
wrong way until we confirmed this with some hikers we saw. We turned
around and headed to the Green Lake trailhead, where the dirt lot was
mostly full. There's a pit toilet (no water) and space for about 20 cars. We
filled one of the last spots.
The trail mostly climbs gradually up to Green Lake, mostly following
Green Creek upstream. There are some short downhill stretches.
There's nothing too noticeable about the views on the way there.
After a short downhill stretch we came to an unsigned intersection
with rocks on the ground pointing to the right (to the left would lead back
to the dirt road). There's a stand of aspens here which should be
pretty in the fall.

Clouds formed as we continued along the trail, enjoying a modest display of
wildflowers as we went along. When we came to a trail intersection
(taking the left fork to the main Green Lake), we started to hear distant
thunder.

We now entered the forest and crossed the creek, shortly coming to the lake.
Nearly as soon as we reached there, it started to drizzle. We quickly ate
our lunch before the rain got worse, and unfortunately left without exploring much of
the shore.
Green Lake
The drizzle pretty much let up by the time we reached the intersection on our
way back. We returned the same way we came. Maybe some day we'll return when the
wildflowers are in full force,
as I've read it's an impressive display on this hike. There are also two other
nearby lakes (West Lake and East Lake).
