The thing you will remember from this short loop trail is
clovers. Clovers everywhere.

The start of the trail has a sign indicating it's a loop.
We took the right fork to start. The problem is that there
are unsigned side trails all over the place, making it hard
to know which way to go. And it's also possible that downed
trees have altered the trail. After going around in circles
(literally twice), we extricated ourselves and somehow ended up
on the back side of the Girdled Tree, which was sort of the
target of the hike.

Even more clovers
There's a small sign with some info about the Girdled Tree
(whose lower bark was peeled in 1901), as well as a bench
with a view of the tree. The bark was stripped, shipped to
San Francisco, and then reassembled for some sort of
information booth.

After viewing the tree, we took the short way back to the
trailhead (returning on what would have been the left fork).
