Okay, it's pretty far-fetched, but it's possible that you could be accidentally
shot by hunters. Especially if you go off-trail a lot. Whenever you're in doubt,
check with the rangers to find out when hunting season is, and if you're going
during hunting season, whether there are any areas to avoid. One thing that's
good to know is that hunting is not allowed in National Parks, but it is allowed
in Wilderness areas.
In North America in 1998,
there were 139 hunting accidents in which the victim was mistaken for
game. Of those, 22 were fatal.
