During breakfast I found the time to count my bug bites. I counted
126, about 100 of them on the legs alone. I'm sure there were
more, but that's sufficient to beat my record haul from the Skyline
to the Sea Trail. A few of them were bothering me, and both Jean
and I looked diseased from the waist down, but I knew they'd go
away soon enough.
In any case, after breakfast we went back to our room to get ready
for our hike. I stopped by the activities center to sign out so
they would know where we'd be. They request that everyone sign
in and out so they can keep track of guests and send out a rescue
party if need be. It's perfectly safe, though. Soon enough, we
were off on our hike -- Dunk Island circuit, including Mount Kootaloo, the highpoint of the island.
After the hike we relaxed for a while before going to dinner outside
by the pool. They called it the So-Wok Kitchen. Basically, we
lined up and filled our bowls with whatever we liked, and they
cooked it all in a wok with beef, duck, or swordfish. I chose
the duck and Jean the swordfish. We ate by the pool while listening
to Chris and Camile play cover songs in the lounge above us. Halfway
through our meal they started playing a music and movie trivia
game that included something akin to Name That Tune.
After dinner we stopped by the garden, but to our disappointment
the bird wasn't there. The nest was empty. In fact, we wouldn't
see the bird there again. Perhaps we scared it away with our headlamp,
or perhaps it just decided to sleep somewhere else. We hope.
