Jean and I drove to Costanoa around 9pm on Friday night. It's a quick drive over highway 92
to Half Moon Bay, then south along Highway 1 for about 20 miles. We arrived just to time to
buy some snacks from the over-priced general store before checking in. Costanoa (pronounced like Costa Rica)
was much larger than I expected. It has a main lodge with guest rooms, several large cabins, and
then a few dozen canvas cabins, in which we were staying.
It was frigid at night; I'm glad we weren't staying in a tent, but the canvas cabins only keep
out some of the cold. We were thankful for the heated mattress pads. We washed up at the well-
heated comfort station nearby (very clean bathrooms, showers, and an outdoor fireplace). Then
off to sleep.
