Wednesday morning was laundry day (there's a laundromat near the outskirts of
downtown Chelan on the way to Manson). After that, it was off to Seattle.
We decided to take a slightly different route back. We stopped off at the
Orondo Cider Works. Don't be fooled by the name, though -- it's not really
in Orondo, but rather several miles north of it. They do have very good
Rainier cherries, and (of course) apple cider. We also stopped at the Estes
Farm, whose cherries were not nearly as good.
Instead of taking Interstate 90 back, we decided to take Highway 2.
After passing through the town of Leavenworth ("Washington's Bavarian Village"),
the road passes through some beautiful mountain scenery next to the
Wenatchee River. It's a much more scenic drive than Highway 2. Unfortunately,
it's also a slower way to get to Seattle. If you've got the time, take it,
but if you're in a hurry, stick to Interstate 90.
