In the morning, we drove from Seattle to Tsawwassen (near Vancouver,
British Columbia). The wait at the border wasn't too long -- about half
an hour. Then we took the 2pm car ferry to Vancouver Island. The ferry
is huge, with several passenger and car decks, a cafeteria, store, and
more. I stopped into the store and found a book on hiking the island; it
would come in handy the rest of the trip.
Once on the island (90 minutes later), we drove to the Point No Point Resort,
on the west coast of the island just beyond Sooke. It's about an hour from
Victoria. Along the way, we saw countless signs for B&Bs.
One of the first things we did when we arrived was check out the beach.
The resort has its own small trail system and 4 private beaches. The
beaches are small, with driftwood and rocks. A nice place to just enjoy
the view or throw rocks into the ocean.
