We started to adjust a little to the time difference, waking up around 8:40am instead of 9am
this morning. The campers next to us (the ones who had their tent smashed) left this morning,
although they had already planned to leave even before the moose had its way with the tent.
They were relatively local (from Edmonton). We mentioned our plans for this trip and they suggested
visiting Waterton Lakes. We wouldn't have time for that on this trip, but I'm hoping to visit
there on a future trip.
Today I had to decide between hiking to Cavell Meadows and doing the hike at
the top of the Jasper Tramway. Eventually I decided the Cavell Meadows hike looked too
good to pass up. And so we drove south on Highway 93 a short distance before turning right
onto Highway 93A, then up Mt. Edith Cavell Road to hike to
Cavell Meadows.
After the hike, we headed to the Jasper townsite. It was so late that we decided not to eat
in camp today. Instead, we ate dinner at La Fiesta in town. While the food was decent
and the portions were huge, the service was terrible. After that unsettling experience,
we picked up some ice for the cooler and then returned
to camp. At least it was so much easier not having to do dishes or move stuff into and out of the car
for dinner.
