This was supposed to be a 4-day trip, ending on Monday (MLK day). Unfortunately the weather was not
cooperating. I had been checking the weather forecast every day, and it looked like we could at least
go up for 3 days, but we'd have to play it by ear.
We left the Bay Area just before 3:30pm, running into traffic all along the way, at 580 to 680 and
then again along 80 toward Sacramento. The GPS suggested I try 580 to 205 to 5 to avoid traffic;
that's clearly longer in terms of distance, but might be a decent alternative when traffic is bad.
Perhaps I'll try it sometime, as we couldn't even make it to Sacramento before we stopped for
dinner. Instead, after almost 3 hours, we stopped in Davis.
After a dinner of just under an hour, we got back on the road and there was now almost no traffic.
We breezed to our rental house in Truckee in about 2 hours.
