We thought about trying to get up early, pack our camp, and catch the 10:40am ferry to San Juan
Island. The next one left at 12:10pm, but took a circuitous route, going to Shaw and Lopez Islands
before reaching San Juan Island (and thus taking about twice as long). However, we knew it'd be
hard to wake up in time to pack everything up and make it.
Our neighbors apparently were thinking something along the same lines, as they got up at I think
6am and were gone by 7am. Of course, they had an easier time packing because they were sleeping
in a trailer, not a tent. All their noise kept us up, but I was too tired to get up then. We
got up around 8am, packed up, and arrived at the ferry at 11:20am.
We explored the ferry terminal area, visiting a couple gift shops and having lunch on the picnic
tables there. Then we drove onto the ferry, arriving at Friday Harbor at 1:55pm. Then we made the
short drive to a farm house we were renting for a couple nights, just a couple miles north of the
ferry terminal.
After cleaning up, we found a nice Thai restaurant (Golden Triangle) in town for dinner, then
visited the Kings Market grocery store for some supplies.
