In the morning, we woke up and drove down to
Jenny Lake, then hiked around the lake.
After the hike, we got some ice cream from the Jenny Lake store. After a brief stop at
Colter Bay for some more stove fuel, we returned to our campground. Our campground was
just a little wet from the earlier rain, and it continued to rain lightly on and off
while we had dinner. Still, we managed to start a campfire and enjoy it before we
drove back to Colter Bay for a 9pm ranger program. One of the things the kids have to
do for their junior ranger booklets is attend a ranger program and have them signed.
This would be our last opportunity to attend a program on this trip.
Tonight's program was on pictures. The ranger showed a famous picture of the Tetons
over the Snake River, taken by Ansel Adams. He explained that at the time the picture
was taken, the bottom half of the picture was actually not protected (not part of the
national park). He ended the talk by encouraging us to take pictures and share them
with our friends, showing the beautiful places that need to be protected.
