It was much warmer this morning, and sunny in the morning as well for a change.
I had set my alarm for 7:30am today, as we had a plan to stick to. After
breakfast, we packed up our sleeping bags and sleeping pads, cleaned up a few
things, but generally left our camp up (including the tent and picnic table
shade). We had actually reserved the campground for 5 nights, but decided we
would stay for just 4. Our plan was to do the hike, come back to camp, tear
down our camp and head home.
So after breakfast and clean-up, we took the short drive from camp up to the Nellie Lake trailhead.
After the hike, we returned to camp around 4:15pm and cleaned up a bit (and had
the luxury of changing into clean clothes). Then we loaded up the car and
were on the road around 5:45pm.
We stopped in Shaver Lake for some Hawaiian shave ice (the kids still had memories
from our Hawaii trip last year). We stopped for gas once, then stopped
in Chowchilla for dinner. Despite the stops, we still made it back home in the
Bay Area just after 11pm.
