We woke up at 5:30am to the sound of other campers talking. They weren't talking
that loudly, but a tent wall isn't a great barrier to sound. It was still a bit
cold, but it warmed up quickly later in the morning. We saw that many people were
packing up to leave, since this was Sunday morning.
We stopped by the store for some ice and firewood. You can also collect downed
wood in the area for campfires. The store sells basic supplies. There are also
showers and laundry available.
After breakfast, we drove along the main park road, seeing the affects of the
2012 Reading Fire. Swaths of trees were burned (still standing) to various
degrees, north of Summit Lake. We continued past Summit Lake and inadvertently
passed the Kings Creek trailhead. I stopped in a pullout and took some pictures
of the beautiful meadow just past the trailhead. Then we doubled back and
parked at the trailhead, hiking to Sifford Lake.

After the hike, we drove back, had some ice cream at the store (I think it's
open until 8pm), then later dinner and campfire s'mores. It was decidedly
warmer this night, and while there were definitely fewer people in camp tonight,
the D-loop was still probably about 3/5ths full, a bit more than I was expecting
with the next day being a weekday.
