We woke up at 7am and left our hotel at 7:45am, taking a taxi to
a hotel in Keflavik, about 45 minutes away. We dropped off our
bags containing our backpacking gear, since we wouldn't need it
in Scotland. Then we headed to the airport (about 5 minutes
away), where we had a 10:30am flight to Glasgow.
The flight to Glasgow is only about 2 hours, but since there's a 1
hour time difference, it was about 1:50pm by the time we landed.
As soon as we landed, we noticed it was noticeably warmer than in Iceland.
It was cloudy, but not raining.
We picked up our rental car, then drove to our rental house. In
Glasgow, you drive on the left side of the road. You get used to
it pretty quickly.
After dropping off our bags at the house, we walked to the Dumbarton
Road commercial area. We noticed lots of empty or shuttered businesses.
We also noticed a fair number of vaping shops and people smoking along the street.
We noticed kids as young as 10-12 vaping.
It wasn't a very pleasant walk. But we did find a nice Vietnamese restaurant
to get some dinner. Then we stopped by Sainsbury's to pick up
some groceries before returning to the house.
