Sequoia/Kings Canyon Trip

Day 4 of 4

Previous Day | Trip Home | Next Day

Monday, May 31st
Tokopah Falls, General Grant Trail

We waited for it to warm up a bit before we dragged ourselves out of the tent. And warm up it did, as we enjoyed sunny weather for the 4th day in a row. After breakfast we packed up and checked out, then did the pleasant Tokopah Falls hike.

After a picnic lunch, we stopped at the Lodgepole gift shop, where we purchased sequoia starters -- trees that have grown for a year or so which you can take home and grow into full-grown trees. Sequoias are fast-growing trees, but it would take about 3000 years to grow one the size of General Sherman.

We drove back to Grant Grove (near the park entrance), and strolled along the short, paved General Grant Trail. Then we started the long drive back to the Bay Area, back to civilization, away from the wonders of the Sierra.
