We woke up to a beautiful mountain view from the many windows at the house. I did some
last-minute checking of the web to check on current fall color conditions in the Eastern
Sierra. It looked as if most of the best colors were in the south, especially in the
Lake Sabrina area. The reports I read said that while South Lake was probably past peak,
Lake Sabrina and North Lake were good. Points further north that we had visited last
year (McGee
Canyon and Convict Lake) were not peaking yet, and points even further north were still mostly
green.

Eventually, I decided on a hike, and we drove south to hike from
North Lake to Grass Lake.
After the hike, we drove to the day use parking area near the southeastern end of North Lake.
I walked over to the edge of the lake and was greeted with a view of mostly yellows on the far
shore, reflected nicely in the water. The trees on the eastern end of the lake were mostly
bare, but the western end was nice. Several people were fishing or taking photographs.
I joined them (the ones taking photographs) before returning to the car.

We drove into Bishop for gas and a few supplies, then back to the Swall Institute for dinner.
