It was another fine sunny and warm day today. I did some more research on the web, trying to find
a good hike in a place with good color. I read about the hike from Lake Sabrina to Blue Lake, but
found conflicting reports about the distance. A book I had said it was 5.8 miles, while another
book said 6.0 miles. One web site had it at 6.6 miles, while another had it at 8.0 miles! It also
wasn't clear whether they were marking the distance from the trailhead, or from the official
parking lot a half mile from the trailhead. If it was just me, the distance disparity wouldn't
matter. But the kids had never done a hike more than 6 miles, so this might be pushing it. Every
extra half mile mattered. But eventually I decided the distance was close enough, and finding
a web site that called the hike "spectacular" pushed me over the edge.
Since it was a longer hike, we got an earlier start. We left about a half hour earlier than
yesterday, driving south to do the
Lake Sabrina to Blue Lake hike.
After the hike, we drove back to the Swall Institute where I enjoyed watching the Giants come
back against the Braves in the NLDS (on tape delay).
