While we ate breakfast at the lodge, the clouds rolled in and the fog did as well.
Originally we were going to hike to the top of Garfield Peak in the morning, then
Plaikni Falls in the afternoon. Because of the weather, though, we decided to swap
the hikes.
After breakfast we made the short drive to the trailhead for Plaikni Falls. It
mostly cleared up by the time we did the hike to
Plaikni Falls.
After the hike, we drove over to Annie's restaurant at Mazama Village for what we
hoped was a quick lunch. Unfortunately we were told there was a 20 minute wait.
I was worried we wouldn't be able to fit in our hike to Garfield Peak before our
dinner reservations, but at this point there wasn't much we could do. Thankfully
the wait was less than 20 minutes, and the food came quickly (too quickly as it
turned out, but I'll get to that).
After our hamburger lunch, we drove back to the lodge and started the hike
to
Garfield Peak a bit after 3pm.
After the hike, we returned to the lodge for showers and to get ready for our 7pm dinner.
Unfortunately, just as we were sitting down at our table, Nathan threw up. Apparently
he'd contracted food poisoning from the not-fully-cooked burgers at Annie's. Jared and I
were ok despite also having hamburgers, but Nathan suffered for the next couple days.
We rescheduled our dinner for 9:15pm that night, and in the meantime I took some more sunset
pictures.
