Sunday, August 4th
Skye castles

Rain came in the morning, so we decided to skip the hiking today. Instead, we made the 30 minute drive to Armadale Castle. After visiting the castle and walking around the grounds a bit in the rain, we went into the cafe and had lunch.

After lunch we visited the Armadale museum here. It describes the history of the people on the Isle of Skye, going back hundreds of years.

The rain had stopped by now, and we stopped at the Broadford grocery store on the way back to the rental house. The others were tired, but I wanted to explore more. I decided I had just enough time to get to Dunvegan Castle before they closed.

I made the hour drive to Dunvegan, and bought my entry ticket at 4:45pm, just before the 5pm last entry. I then sped through the castle (you can enter it, which is something you can't do at Armadale, since Armadale is mostly ruins). Then I quickly went through all the impressive gardens at Dunvegan.

My entire visit to Dunvegan only lasted about an hour, but I felt like I pretty much covered everything. Afterwards I started the drive back to the house. I knew I'd be stopping, as I'd passed some of the prettiest views I'd seen on the island. I stopped at several roadside turnouts to take pictures.
